Information Technology and Informatics Major

People who successfully compete in today’s technology-focused marketplace possess a broad range of knowledge, skills and abilities. Students who graduate with an Information Technology and Informatics (ITI) major from the School of Communication and Information (SC&I) are ready to succeed in careers driven or heavily supported by information technology.

The ITI major teaches students how to evaluate, implement, use and manage information technologies for most organizations and corporations. The knowledge gained by our graduates places them in reach of many careers.

No matter the industry – government, education, health care, corporate – our program prepares students to take on the challenges that lie ahead.

Graduates from the ITI program often obtain jobs and pursue careers as:

  • Information Designers and Developers
  • Database Managers and Designers
  • IT Managers
  • Instructional Technology Designers
  • Information Technology Analysts
  • IT Project Managers
  • IT and Web Analysts
  • Producers and Designers
  • IT Support Coordinators
  • Network Administrators
  • Technical Writers

The ITI major unites theories drawn from the humanities and social sciences with practical computer-based competencies. This program prepares students to work in a diverse and highly competitive technological marketplace that demands individuals who understand the social, economic, and organizational impacts of technology locally, nationally and globally.
