SC&I Professor of Communication Jennifer A. Theiss has been awarded the 2023 Bernard J. Brommel Award for Outstanding Scholarship or Distinguished Service in Family Communication from the National Communication Association (NCA).

For the third time in the conference’s long-standing history, the Rutgers School of Communication and Information will host the Organizational Communication Mini-Conference. It will be held from Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8, 2023 on the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick.
Alyssa Pernice MCM’23 is an account supervisor at BCW, a multinational public relations and communications firm headquartered in New York City. She recently fulfilled her long-time goal of obtaining a master’s degree by completing the Master of Communication and Media (MCM) program at Rutgers School of Communication and Information.
Wang majored in Communication with a specialization in Public Relations and minored in Digital Media. An unexpected change in her graduation date left Wang scrambling. “Unsure what to do, I spoke to my advisors and professors about my dilemma. They helped me explore my options and introduced me to the MCM program. With their encouragement and a leap of faith, I decided to pursue a graduate degree at SC&I.”

Jennifer Dunne Keeney, a student in the Master of Communication and Media (MCM) program, comes to Rutgers via a lengthy career as a performing and visual artist. After receiving her BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Keeney has performed in numerous Broadway shows, national tours, international productions in foreign languages, music videos, and television appearances such as the “Tony Awards” and “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Three SC&I graduates came back to campus – virtually – to give insights to students about job searches and the workplace, in an online panel discussion conducted by the MCM/MHCI Graduate Student Association (GSA).

The conference will close with a social hosted by SC&I’s Interim Dean and Distinguished Professor of Journalism and Media Studies Dafna Lemish, along with fellow deans from University of South Carolina, University of Kentucky, and University of Alabama. The keynote speaker will be Alberto Ibargüen, president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
