Archivists, scholars and librarians working with a variety of British archives and collections provided the MI students with a variety of lectures and guided tours to enable them to think critically about cultural differences and similarities by learning about how British archivists and librarians develop, preserve, and provide access to physical and virtual collections.

Faculty join in the American Library Association’s national conference and support local literacy action efforts.

With this year’s conference theme, “Breaking Barriers, Simple Kindness,” NJLA invites attendees to reflect on the powerful role libraries play in promoting equity, compassion, and access for all. The theme resonates strongly with SC&I’s commitment to inclusive education, community engagement, and preparing library professionals who serve diverse populations.

The symposium created a platform for scholars, practitioners, and students to exchange insights on real-world challenges, ranging from AI and ethics to knowledge infrastructure, to community and inclusion.

Professor of Library and Information Science Marie L. Radford, who has mentored countless faculty, undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students during her distinguished 21 year-career at SC&I, will retire on July 1, 2025.

“We are fortunate to have Lisa join us at a pivotal time for libraries in our nation,” Interim Executive Director Leslie Burger said. “Her background, experience and leadership will be vital as we advocate for libraries.”

Formerly Interaction Design and Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) reflects an evolving identity.

Spectrum Scholarships, the ALA said, are awarded to master’s students who demonstrate “their commitment to community building, leadership potential, and planned contributions to making social justice part of everybody's everyday work in Library and Information Science.”

Shortly after receiving her MI, Saito was selected as a 2020 ALA Emerging Leader by the American Library Association.

“You never know where that degree will take you,” Segal said.
