MI Program Assessment

ALA Accredited logoSystematic planning and program learning assessment are an integral part of our program’s operation. In 2019 Rutgers MI (formerly MLIS) program was granted accreditation by the American Library Association. The program presentation was submitted in August 2018. In January 2019 the program was granted continued accreditation through 2025. The program also submits a Biennial report outlining interim program developments. Retention Rate:
The ToT persistent rate is defined as the percentage of active students (minus graduates) from the previous term who returned for the current term. Because Summer is not a required term in the MI program, but still an intake, the Fall ToT rate is calculated using Spring actual students (minus spring and summer graduates, plus summer starts) who return for the Fall term.

The average term over term (ToT) persistence rates (adjusted for Summer term) for the MI program:

Year: 2022 2023
Percent 71.4% 74.0%

Average time to degree completion:
For academic years  2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, the average time to degree completion has consistently been 2.25 years. The MI program has a 3 year time limit for completion. Most part-time students complete within that time frame or less due to availability of course offerings in Summer and Winter sessions.  Full time students typically complete the program within 1.5-2 years.
