The Health Humanities, Communications, and Informatics (HHCI) working group is a team of multi-disciplinary researchers centered around the core concept of data equity. The group leverages relevant equity research experience and literature from various disciplines, including Journalism and Media Studies, Communication, and Library and Information Science, to collaboratively design the group’s first initiative, the “Data Equity Initiative." The Data Equity Initiative is the initial HHCI project which aims to describe and address inequities in digital health communication.
The team of researchers established the objectives of the Data Equity Initiative with a fundamental emphasis on rectifying disparities and inequities prevalent in digital health communication. Their comprehensive approach encompasses ensuring equitable access to health information, fostering meaningful engagement with diverse communities, and ultimately driving positive behavioral changes toward healthier outcomes.
