Associate Professor of Library and Information Science Ross J. Todd, an expert on the interconnectedness of people, information, and knowledge, and the transformative role of school libraries in the 21st century, died on March 30, 2022.
Award-winning alumna and school librarian Martha Hickson MLIS’05 RC’82, who was targeted during a book-banning protest held by a group of North Hunterdon High School parents last fall, discusses the insights she gained during the experience, the power of books, those who suffer the most from censorship, and the reasons she still loves her job.
Sarah Watson MI’21 has had an unusual career journey. She began volunteering in the library there and had what she refers to as a career epiphany.
SC&I faculty member Marc Aronson, a co-creator of the International Youth Literature Collection at the Alexander Library, said, “this acquisition is significant, because these are the first children's books ever written and published in Lao.” The donation will be celebrated on the annual “Day of the International Children's Book,” event at Alexander Library on April 1, 2022.
“Every day I have the opportunity to introduce a child or teen to the book their heart needs,” Squicciarini said.
“Agility, flexibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning will be critical skills for today’s grads,” Rizzotti said.
Marnie Butu ’22 is eager to get started in a new career as a youth librarian.
Brody, who earned her Master of Information at SC&I, said her experiences as an NLM fellow expanded her knowledge of medical informatics, scholarly communications, and more.
A San Diego native with a passion for conservation and biodiversity, Arie Hammond ’21 specializes in information behaviors and technologies.
Caitlin Smits, a current Master of Information student who’s completing the program online from her home in Minnesota, has been on a journey to find a career that’s the right fit.
