Over 40 SC&I faculty members in the departments of Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, and Library and Information Science and students in the Ph.D. Program in Communication, Information, and Media are participating in the 73rd Annual International Communication Association (ICA) Conference as session chairs, discussants, and participants. The conference is scheduled from May 25–29 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On Friday, May 26, SC&I is hosting a reception from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Hotel Ochoa,195 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, ON. The International Communication Association has over 4,000 members globally and aims to advance the scholarly study of human communication by encouraging and facility in excellence in academic research worldwide. According to the ICA Conference website, the theme, “Reclaiming Authenticity in Communication,” invites communication scholars to examine how authenticity has become a variable, rather than a constant, in public discourses and popular culture across the globe, and with what relational, social, political, and cultural implications.
